On this very privileged and glorious occasion of the 36th Annual Day Celebration of our school I have great privilege in greeting our Chief Guests Dr I Jayanthi , Honourable Judge, High Court, Chennai and Major Dr. Sweta Choudhary, distinguished invitees, respected parents and dear students.
My hearty welcome to one and all present here. I would like to thank you all for accepting our invitation by gracing this occasion.
It is the day of the year on which we sit back and recount the year's blessings from our Heavenly Father. It is an experience that not only fills us with gratitude but also reminds us of our duties and responsibilities as humble vessels in His hands.
I have great pleasure in presenting to you the Annual Day Report for the academic year 2013-2014 .This year has been a very eventful one for the school. We have been extremely successful in most of our endeavors as we made great efforts towards the pursuit of excellence . Apart from preparing the children in the academic sector, special efforts are being made continuously which will enable them to face the challenges of the competitive world. It's a matter of great importance to us that the students who pass out from our portals should carry forward the values throughout their life span to be role models in the society.
Over the years our school strength has been growing in leaps and bounds .Having carved a niche in the field of education, our school has been credited with an excellent track record of achievements. The achievements of our students in academics speak eloquently of the dedication and single mindedness of our teachers and management. The results of Std X and XII in particular stand testimony to this fact.
We are proud to report that 2012-13 batch of X and XII Std students have brought laurels to the school by their extra-ordinary results. We achieved 100% results in class X examination held in March 2013. Nancy Christina J of X std stood first with 493/500 and three students scored above 490. 18 students scored centum in Maths, 25 students scored centum in Science. 1 student scored centum in social studies. Tamilnadu Nursery Primary Matric, Hr. Sec and CBSE School's Association Education Wing presented 100% Result Achiever award to our School.
22 students of XII std have scored above 1100 and the school topper was Praveena R with 1171/1200. Three of our students scored centum in Commerce and 1 student in Biology.
Seminars are intended for the improvement of technical knowledge of the faculty. Many of our teachers were sent for in-service training programs and workshops in order to enhance their teaching skills.
Teachers were also sent for training in Child Right Development to improve the morality in the children and change the present scenario.
An awareness programme on Diabetics was conducted by Ramachandra Hospital. It was an eye opener to most of our teachers and they were trained to create awareness among the students to make India-Diabetes Free.
Teachers of Kinder Garten and CBSE attended a seminar on International English Learning to develop the quality of the communication skill.
Competition help us to bring out our laten talents. One such Competition titled "Competition for beautiful handwriting" was conducted by MAX in the month of August, in which 332 students participated from IV and V , Priyadarshini of V C and Mitheshwar of V A won I and II prizes respectively.
Spartans Spell Bee competition was held on 09 10 2013. 54 students participated and 26 were selected for the Zonal level. Sreya M of II B and Tharika S of II B advanced to State level in the Inter School level competition. Kalpashri K of IVB and Belinda S of III A were the school toppers under category 3.
The Ministry of Power conducted Drawing Competition and M Shree Sachin's ( IV A ) drawing was adjudged in school level and sent to the Ministry of Power.
Ashwin R of V C participated in Spell Bee International language for life competition. He got selected for the State level after winning in the School and District level.
Rakshana K of IV A won a prize in the Brain O Brain fest 2013 in the 23rd National Abacus Competition.
Pooja S of V A was awarded first prize in the Bharathanatyam Dance competition conducted by Om Sri Raja Rajeswari Natyalaya on 5th January 2014. She received a trophy, gold medal and a merit certificate.
Priyadharshini of Std V C participated in "Most people performing in Bhartanatyam" for National Level World Record Programme on 2nd December 2013 at Namakkal, and has been a recipient of a participation certificate by India Book of records.
Asra Fathima T of I A, Jenifer of I C, Suchitha.S and Ricky Sharon C of II A, Sreyas M of II B , Mahaswetha I of III A, Rhema S of III c, Samuel Jeba Durai of III C, Feroz khan D IV A, Harish Kumar G S of IV C , Kanika V of V B were the winners in the Inter school competition conducted by Ascent Go Smart Academy and these students were honoured at Raja Annamalai Mandram.
Mahathy S of IV C won third prize in the State Level Yogasana competition.
Tata Steels conducted Essay writing competition . Many enthusiastic participants from our school pitched in to showcase their talents.
The Hindu, India's National Newspaper, conducted Young World Quiz competition and some of our students participated.
Mitranjali of VIII D and Aishek of VIII A bagged the prizes in the Wild life Competition that was held in the month of September.
Children were trained for healthy and hygienic life by Little Drops which sensitized the style of living .
Linc Pens conducted Spelling Test. Shiny A and Shanmugapriya of VII Std went up to Interschool level with their scintillating performance.
Health and Hygiene Club conducted a survey and Our school got the best School award for Health and Hygiene. Tom Verisolove and Thevayani of XI std, the members of the Club were the recipients and Mrs. Visalakshi, the Co-ordinator .
Dinamalar conducted school level elocution and creativity competition. Many students actively participated and bagged prizes and it was published in that newspaper on the very next day.
Wild Life Competition was conducted on elocution, quiz and drawing. Toms Verisolove of XI std , Manimaran of X std, Abishek of VII std, Shubin of IX std and Mithranjali of VIII std bagged the top 3 places.
Boost conducted an activity for the students of primary block that was thoroughly enjoyed. Sanjay A of V C secured the first place.
Art and Science exhibition was exhibited in the month of October which made the viewers spell bound.
As mentioned earlier, other than academics a lot of attention was paid towards the overall development of our children. In that connection, Little Drops Health Club, conducted a programme that was inaugurated in our campus by the great late Dr. Rabindran.
The New year unveiled the heights of imaginations. Innovative skills and latent talents of students of IX and X std ably supported by the guidance of the teachers in the form of conducting Exhibition for the students on 22nd and 23rd of January this year. The students not only were provided food for thought but also organized food festival where the students themselves took the role of chefs.
Our singing sensation A. Sharmili was the finalist in T V shows which included "Sun Singer", "Raga Maliga" and Kuyil paattu.
The 36th Annual Sports meet was held in the month of August 2013. The chief guests were Lt. Col. Sanjeev Sharma ME , MAG AVADI and Mrs Vandana Sharma M.Sc. B.Ed.. The sports day commenced with the March-Past followed by Various cultural and sports events. Medals, cups and shields were awarded to the winners.
The Independence Day and the Republic Day were celebrated with pomp and gaiety in the School Campus to incite the patriotic feeling in the hearts and minds of our students.
RSP students took part in the parade at Chennai Secretariat where the Honorable Chief Minister of Tamilnadu hoisted the National Flag. Out of 120 schools, our school was selected as one among the 10 best schools on Road Safety Day.
Teachers'Day was celebrated in the School campus. Cultural program by teachers at different levels were the highlight of the day.
Children's day celebration was a great event which included a number of cultural programmes rendered by the children and this rekindled the joy of being a child thereby cherishing his innocence, marveling at their skills, giving us a strong hope towards building up a glorious nation.
Christmas Day was celebrated on 7th Dec 2013 with great joy and enthusiasm. The choir gave a beautiful number and the students presented a lovely programme that filled our hearts with divine spirit which lingered all through the season.
Some of our students are specially trained as scouts and guides to carry out the duties and take up responsibilities as better citizens of the society.
Around 150 students with higher secondary teachers were taken to this place to watch the car race. It was a thrilling experience for everyone of us to watch live the way the cars speeding and racing at 240 km/h. The Indian formula one racer Padmashri Narain Karthikeyan was the centre of attraction.
The backbone of every programme in our Campus, Our School Choir, headed by Mr. George and Mrs. Visalakshi is a boon to the children driven by intense passion in music. They not only teach the children to master the music but also face the challenges ahead of them in that field. Our school choir always emerges victorious in all their endeavours. Aachi Sing the Season Conducted by Vijay TV offered up a chance for the School choir. They got selected in the audition and moved up to semifinal level with their amazing performance.
The school has always been taking initiatives to bring out the best talents in the sports arena. Ebenezer Sports Academy was inaugurated by Mr Parthasarathy Thulasi ( ICF Football Coach ). The goal of the academy is to identify the budding stars with great potentials and mould them to be the future sports personalities. Nearly 200 students are given special coaching in Basket Ball, Football, Shuttle Badminton, Volley Ball, Athletics, Yoga , and Cricket by professional coaches.
Ebenezer Marcus Cricket Team met Sethu Bhaskara Team in a match that was conducted by the Chennai Super Kings for under 19 category. Though our team lost the match the performance by the Captain Thiagarajan of X std captured every official's attention so much so that he had been selected to be among the 40 probables for the junior Chennai super king team.
King Chess Foundation organized a Chess tournament at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium. Hemalatha G scored 5.5 points of 9 rounds and was appreciated for the performance. She also took part in a District level FIDE World Championship chess tournament by the Govt of Tamil Nadu and was placed I on the Merit List scoring 6 points in 9 rounds.
Football tournament was conducted for Hussain Memorial Trophy. Our school team won the match against Sethu Baskara in the first round, Vijayantha Model in the semi finals and TI M H S S in the final to become the Champions of the year once again. Makansing was adjudged the Best Player of the Tournament scoring overall 6 goals of the 8 in the entire tournament . The team was given a special coaching by the professional coach Mr. Moses and the Physical Director Mr Nilavazhagan.
WESFA Yogalya and WSW Trust conducted Yoga District level Competition on 16th October 2013. Adhishankar of IX A claimed the III place.
Nazareth college of Arts and science conducted Wesley Arul Memorial Interschool State level football tournament . Among 22 Schools, our school bagged the bronze medal and a trophy.
S.Devidarshiyini of IX, A Fencing Champion, added another feather to our Cap. She has bagged gold and silver medals in Fencing competition conducted by the Sports Development Authority of Tamilnadu for Team and individual events respectively. She has also received a silver medal in the Sub Junior National Fencing Championship conducted by CSFA, recognized by ministry of youth affairs of sports- Govt. of India.
Music is a form of art where the medium of expression is sound and silence. To many, music plays an important part of their way of life. This institution also relishes the uniqueness of music and feels proud of running the Ebenezer Music Academy where many students learn keyboard, guitar, drums. Special Music Teachers are appointed to train them. As a result, 10 of our students are all set to take the theory exam conducted by Trinity college of Music, London.
If I were to put all the events at Ebenezer Marcus schools in a Nutshell, we encourage a child to observe, to explore, to experiment ,to probe, to analyze, to confront problems & find solutions, thus developing the personality skills essential to face the future.
I would like to conclude by extending our sincere thanks to all the parents and our well wishers who have lent a supportive hand over the years, in all our endeavors.
Last of all, Our sincere thanks to the management of the school run by Ebenezer Marcus Trust. This management strongly believes that education should develop high moral and social values in children. All accomplishments are achieved with the timely guidance and support of our management committee and dedicated faculty.
It is with a deep sense of humility and gratitude that we exhibit these achievements. We are greatly indebted to God, the Almighty for enabling us to celebrate and cherish this marvelous success.
